The Heavy Sniper Mk II is the Weapon Workshop upgrade of the Heavy Sniper and the most valuable weapon investment in GTA Online. The conversion raises damage from 216 to 230 per shot, but the real prize is exclusive access to explosive rounds, which turn it into a precision anti-everything cannon: one round destroys most helicopters and unarmored cars and kills any player it lands near.
Costs, as of July 2026: the base Heavy Sniper is $38,150 at Ammu-Nation and the conversion is $165,375, the most expensive Mk II upgrade, for $203,525 on the gun. The explosive rounds magazine costs a further $115,450 and requires Bunker research (or a fast-track payment), bringing the headline build to about $320,000, plus refills at $1,450 per 4 explosive rounds.
Is it worth it? Yes, for every player type. Grinders use it to swat griefer jets and helicopters off their cargo sales - one explosive round per aircraft. PvE players delete armored heist enemies at any distance. PvP players treat it as the game's hardest counter to air vehicles. No other single unlock changes what you can deal with as much as this one.
The recommended loadout is explosive rounds as the default, with armor piercing rounds ($76,100) researched as the cheap-per-shot backup for body-shot one-taps through armor. Keep the default advanced scope; add the suppressor only for stealth setups with standard ammo, since explosive rounds and stealth do not mix. Explosive mags hold just 4 rounds, so make every shot deliberate.
For money making, it directly protects income: sale griefing is the biggest avoidable loss in GTA Online, and this is the counter. It also speeds up Cayo Perico and Doomsday content by deleting priority targets instantly.
